Before the erosion works, I experimented with salts in water. Different salt would yield different crystal patterns.

I lined my studio floor with plastic, and pooled the water into it. The coloration comes from various metallic oxides dissolved in the water like Rutile, Iron, and such.

I was especially taken with the landscape nature of the salt. It looks as though I am taking an aerial photograph.
